We pride ourselves on quality, and what better way to bring quality to you than by providing the freshest produce possible when it is available. In the column to the left, you will find estimated season lengths for many produce items grown in Michigan. Just click the item to learn more about it!
Our store offers one of the best varieties of plants in the area. We sell perennials in both starter and gallon sizes-- over 300 species in all. Our hanging baskets are always well grown and we sell them for very comparable prices. Come see us at Mother's Day for the best selection. We also carry annual flowers in 36 and 48 count flats and 4 inch specialty sizes. Accent plants and patio pots round off the selection of colorful annuals available. And it's always easier to get the vegetable garden done if you can get all the plants in one place, and here, you can easily do that-- we sell most any vegetable plant you can think of. We also sell herbs, rose bushes, gladiola bulbs, asparagus roots and seed potatoes in the spring. Feel free to follow any of the links in this section to check out more about our plants!
Our plant suppliers:
Anne Ostrowski Greenhouse-- a local grower of vegetable plants including many tomato and pepper varieties, lettuce, cabbage, cucumbers, melons, pumpkins and more.
Banotai Greenhouse-- a local leader in quality plants since the 1960's, we get many hanging baskets, planters and other annual flowers from this source. To find out more about them, Click Here.
Dusseau Farm and Greenhouse-- baskets and planters
Eastern Market-- our supplier visits the Detroit Eastern Market to buy plants from many different Michigan farmers. We get annuals, baskets, vegetables and many specialty plants from this, our most valued plant source.
Kaltz and Sons Greenhouse and Farm-- many perennials in large pots, berry and grape vines, and most importantly, an excellent selection of well grown herbs come from this source.
Parran's Greenhouse-- the biggest selection of seed perennials in the area comes from this source, and we are thankful to be able to do business with them.
Vandenberg Bulb Co.-- roses from Lincoln Nursery, clematis vine, onion and potato sets, asparagus root and many bulbs come from this time tested distributor of fine plants.
Made mostly with regionally grown produce and made in small batches with real sugar, this line of salsas, jams and jellies is exceptionally good and keeps customers coming back for more. To see a list of specific products, Click Here.
Beginning in June with our local strawberry season, there is always something different to preserve. Since we sell the bulk produce, such as flats of strawberries, bushels of tomatoes and lugs of concord grapes, it only makes sense that we offer as much as we can in the way of home canning supplies. This family owned dairy is located in Carleton, Michigan, with offices and distributing facilities in Lincoln Park. Many of our dairy and grocery items are brought to us from Lipari Foods, a regional distributor of grocery, deli and bakery items. They employ many Michigan workers and contract through Michigan companies and farmers. We still carry many of the same Dairy Fresh brand products available through Lipari: the irresistable flavor of Sabrina's Specialty Rye and Iced Sweet bread keep our customers coming back for more of their fine products. To see a list of items we sell in our store that come from this company, Click Here.
This Columbus, Ohio based company will be a new supplier for us in 2014. They have been in business since 1850 and have a very comprehensive website. To learn more about the history of Livingston Seed Co., Click Here.
We only get one item from this source, homemade turnovers. They are made by a local woman, Sherry Toni and have been an addiction for some of our customers for many years, as she has been selling them to the store since my grandmother was first getting started. For a list of flavors, Click Here.
From this wholesale supplier we get some of our most unique plants and bulbs. In the spring, you'll find asparagus roots, gladiola bulbs and clematis bought through this vendor. In August look for Iris Rhizomes and after Labor Day, a great selection of flowering bulbs for planting. To find out more about Vandenberg Horticulture, Click Here.
